Yoshio Sawai's newest manga, Chagecha
While Western readers wait for Viz to figure out exactly how long it takes to translate a comic incorrectly and from the middle, Bobobo fans starved for something new might be interested in this: http://www.mediafire.com/?hvrm8c1p4toChagecha is Sawai's newest manga, having just debuted in Jump this week. The chapter is raw, though, no translations yet (if ever--sound familiar?). Seems funny, although at certain points it sort of just seems like Bobobo with a new haircut. I hope it does well in Jump. | | Thursday, August 14th, 2008 | 10:27 am [baltered] |
Bo-bobo Volume 1 (SJ Edition)
Bobobo-Bo Bo-bobo Volume 1 (Shonen Jump Edition) is now in stores! Even though it's called volume 1, it apparently is made up of chapters from volume 11. There's even a bonus page with a "Characters you'd like to see again" poll, which mentions that the results to a different popularity poll are in volume 10. Anyway, even if it's not the real beginning it's funny stuff and we should all buy it. For some reason I couldn't find it on Amazon, but it should be in most book stores. Volume 2 seems to be scheduled for March 2009 (kind of a long wait...) | | Saturday, May 10th, 2008 | 11:59 am [kagenami]

Bo-Bobo Figure!
About a year ago in Japan, Organic brought out a PVC "Bo-bobo Big Figure" that's a little over 10 inches tall. I got mine then, and it's one of my all-time favorite figures! Anyway, HobbyLink Japan has some left and is blowing them out for 1440 yen each, about US $15: http://www.hlj.com/product/ORG02056 (I keep hoping they'll do a Don Patch too...) | | Sunday, April 27th, 2008 | 10:15 am [sasuke2itachi3]

Well...the DVDs bite the dust for now...probally. Illumitoon's B'tX, Beet, BoBoBo-Bo DVDs Discontinued The North American anime retailer Right Stuf International has reclassified the DVDs of B'tX Volumes 3-5, Beet the Vandel Buster Volumes 2-5, and Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo Volumes 2-8 as "discontinued" this week. Illumitoon Entertainment had released all three titles, and some of the DVD volumes had been scheduled for later this year and next year. The first three volumes of AM Driver, another Illumitoon title, is still available for purchase. Illumitoon did not respond to requests for comments before this article's posting.ANNNot that anyone really cares that much. The Bo-Bo-Bona fide Interview Pt1
Hey everyone, there was an interview with creator Yoshio Sawai in this month's Shonen Jump! So I thought I'd type it up for everyone! It's a two-parter, so I'll probably put the rest up when it's out next month. Enjoy! Shonen Jump: Who is your favourite character in Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo? Yoshio Sawai: Poppa Rocks ["Don Patch" in the anime] is an amazing guy. Beauty and Gasser have great personalities, so I like them a lot. SJ serialization
This is really just to say I'm loving the fact that Bobo-Bo is serialized in US SJ now, especially as it's so hard to find scans on le internets. Infact, I've started collecting it! This month's chapter was just... well I can't really describe it, so here are two of my fave pages: ( Click to see 'em! ) Current Mood: pleased | | Friday, June 29th, 2007 | 11:07 pm [urahargh]

The day has come...Bo-bobo Manga gets serialized.... Viz Media announced SJ Evolution, a multi-month makeover for the American Shonen Jump magazine. The Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo slapstick comedy manga begins serializing in the July issue, while the Shaman King mystical adventure will end its serialization in the August issue.Full article here, also announcing Honey and Clover in Shojo Beat.So I guess they finally figured out there were actually fans of the series in the US. Either that, or they got the kinks straightened out with the rights. I'm kind of glad now that I held out buying the 8-9 volume they released awhile back. But this raises the new question....with the volumes still be released under the Shonen Jump advanced label like the pilot volume was or will it turn into a normal Shonen Jump title? I know this isn't a very active community, but does anybody know of any places with high-quality Bobobo screenshots for icon purposes? Or better yet, does anybody know where I could find RAWs? Thanks. | | Monday, April 2nd, 2007 | 12:41 pm [chill_shadow]

No more dubtitled Bo-bobo. Apparently Illumitoon's doing what Dreamworks did with all the defective GitS: Innocence DVDs and doing a replacement program. I guess all those emails people send in do actually work from time to time. Illumitoons DVD Replacement Offer Illumitoon Entertainment, distributor of BoBoBo-Bo BoBoBo, Beet the Vandel Buster and B't X, has announced a DVD Trade-In program. The replacement program will allow fans to trade in certain dubtitled DVDs for subtitled versions. Details (including instructions on how to participate in the trade-in) can be found on Illumitoon's trade-in page. From: ANN Current Mood: sore | | Thursday, March 1st, 2007 | 6:15 am [jennnnille]

bobobo-bo bo-bobo is one of the best things that has ever come to this world. ESPECIALLY to cartoon network? Is it cancelled off of cartoon network or not? I saw it the other night at 8: 30? IT IS NEVER ON @ 8:30!! Is this like a permanent time or something? Current Mood: confused | | Monday, February 12th, 2007 | 12:56 am [chill_shadow]

DUBTITL'D!
Okay I thought I should let you people know before you rush out and buy the DVDs that I told everyone that were going to be subbed that according to the latest Self Life, The DVDs have dubtitles and other things wrong with the 'subtitles'.... To quote: 1. Some of the lines aren't even close to being properly translated. I don't claim to be anywhere near fluent in Japanese, but I know for a fact that some of the dub dialogue is completely different from the Japanese. (I know this because when there are subtitles when there is 2 minutes of silence… something is a bit off.) This could be understandable if they even bothered putting the proper translation on there, but wait! Where are the subtitles? Oh, that's right! They're just closed-captions of the dub!!
2. Some of the subtitles were very poorly encoded and timed, especially near the end of the first episode. All of the subs would be clumped together on the left side of the screen, showing lines that wouldn't be uttered for another 15 seconds. And by the time they were uttered, the “subtitles,” of course, would no longer be there.
3. No, seriously, dubtitling is not cool.Raise your hand if you saw this coming.... Current Mood: tired | | Friday, November 3rd, 2006 | 1:03 pm [chill_shadow]

According to ANN Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo will be released on DVD sometime in 2007: Illumitoon & Westlake Acquire Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo (2006-11-02 16:50:28) Illumitoon and Westlake have announced the acquisition of Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo. In May, Toei announced that it had appointed Joy Tashjian Marketing Group to handle licensing of the show. Illumitoon will release Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo in 2007.Now this doesn't mean that it will be subbed and unedited and after reading Illumitoon's mission statement...the hopes of that just got a wee bit slimmer: Illumitoon is focused on acquiring kid friendly properties that are “placeable” in the North American market. That is, properties that, in addition to having an inherent appeal to a general kid audience, are friendly towards the North American entertainment standards and poised for greatest broadcast placement. With an increasing number of alternatives for the viewing public, it is imperative that entertainment content be as adaptable as possible. Illumitoon seeks to maximize its presence in existing as well as emerging mediaSo who knows after that. It may just be the TV dub and then unedited box sets for all we know....not much info's been released. The fans should just be happy that we're getting any DVDs at all. I just thought I would post this for anyone who wanted to know or didn't think it would be released on DVD ever. x-posted to a few places... Projects
Hey there. Glad to see people appreciating this series for once. I'd like to say a few things... One) I have begun work on translating all the chapters of the manga up to volume 21. About time, right? Two) I have also started a fansubbing group for the anime. However, we're missing a few vital roles (I don't want to turn this into a fansubbing lecture, so) which are translator/s and -raw providers-. We have the rest covered for now. (I'm doing Editing, Timing and Encoding while my friend gordon117 is doing typesetting with Adobe After Effects.) So I'm making this post to announce these projects and to let you guys know that they -are- underway, and if you can help in any way drop me an IM at Sol Vanderlyn. | | Wednesday, October 11th, 2006 | 5:21 pm [atmosana99]
